Disorders of Attachment and Complex Trauma: New Pathways of Healing for Children

Kenneth E. Miller, ACSW, LCSW is a clinical social worker in full-time private practice in Tucson, Arizona. He currently trains both agencies and clinicians around the country on treating Disorders of Attachment and Complex Trauma in children. He is a consultant and trainer for several state and local agencies in the areas of attachment, foster care, adoption and infant-toddler mental health.
A model of support for resolving developmental trauma in children will be offered. This workshop will present strategies for growing the missing relationship skills of early childhood which form the core of attachment trauma.
Outline of major topics to be covered:
I. Define and Understand the Early Relationship Skills of Self-Parent Permanence and Constancy
II. Assessing and Supporting Caregivers with the Skill of Reflective Function
III. Interventions Which Grow the Skills of Permanence and Constancy in Children
