ETHICS IN ACTION II: Risk Management, Advanced Ethics & Your Professional Identity
July 22, 2010
Hilton Tucson East, Tucson, AZ
Presented by David Jobes, PhD This program provides practical means for handling virtually any ethically complex situation.
This workshop aims to make ethics and professional codes of conduct come alive through lively case presentations and discussion.
The key to contemporary ethical professional practice is the process of ethical decision-making and risk management.
But beyond considerations of process, further clarifying one’s professional sense of self is critically important in contemporary practice.
An evolving sense of a professional self can be readily established through effective use of informed consent,
“usual and customary practices,” appropriate policies and procedures, and defining a scope of practice. In short, this program
can help participants further develop a professional self that can work in the best interest of the client while
still effectively managing clinical risks and decreasing professional liability.

SENSORY INTEGRATION IN CHILDREN
November 4, 2010
Chapperal Suites Resort
Scottsdale, AZ
Presented by SUSAN LARSON KIDD, EdD, EdS
Sensory Integration Dysfunction (SID) is a commonly occurring component challenging children with neurobehavioral disabilities.
Dr. Larson Kidd will help participants identify sensory dysfunction and the impact it has on the child’s learning, social development,
and behavior. She will also provide participants with sensory integration strategies to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Connecting this sensory diet to any routine at home, school, or within the community will help children with sensory integration problems
regulate more effectively within their environment. The goal of this program is to help participants acquire strategies and resources in order
to create and implement a sensory integration diet, or plan, for children and youth within home, work, school, or a facility.
Several simulations, examples, and case studies will be provided in order to help participants experience and build the insight necessary
for success with sensory integrative strategy execution. The strategies and process presented are embedded in best practices,
research-based interventions, positive behavioral support, and brain-based learning research. Particular attention will be given to
identification and explanation of related learning, behavior, and social skills for children ages 3-young adulthood
along with intervention in a variety of settings.
