Join NASWAZ Branch 1 for a networking meeting at the Coco's Bakery Restaurant in Phoenix (NOTE the new location)!
The Branch 1 Networking meetings will remain the third Thursday of each month. The meeting will feature networking and an opportunity to earn 1 CEU!
We will be discussing the topic: "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy."
Karen Pitico, LCSW, MPH received her Masters in Counseling and Personnel in 1974, Masters of Social Work in 1981 and Masters in Public Health in 1996. She has over 46 years of professional experience working in the mental health field as a psychiatric social worker at Maricopa Medical Center, acute psychiatric inpatient and outpatient individual and group experience, Director of the Social Work Department at Maricopa Medical Center, Risk Manager at Maricopa County Correctional Health, psychiatric social worker within Maricopa County Jail system, Director of a 10 bed psychiatric acute care hospital, assistant director of a mental health center, Chief Quality Officer, Vice President of Support Services health care consultant and most recently as retired working in a totaling different field with traumatic brain injury and Alzheimer’s clients in an adult day care center.
Karen was the ghost writer of Everybody’s Doing It…And Here’s How to Quit by Dorie Pass, R.D. a self help book using Cognitive Behavioral therapy techniques to over come depression and anxiety.
A semi- retired venture is Karen starting the Arizona Foundation For Swallowing Disorders non-profit Foundation for those individuals who can not swallow.
Learning Objectives
1. What are the basic principles and concepts of CBT?
2. Understanding your relationship with your thinking.
3. Learn the ABC’s of thinking.
4. Learn how of errors of reasoning in automatic thoughts create negative thinking habits.
5. Learn the major techniques of CBT.
6. Provide an interactive activity in the ABC’s of thinking.
