Private Practice Update: Medicare Changes
 
 
There are impending Medicare code number changes for beneficiaries beginning April 1, 2018. Members can view the Practice Alert titledClinical Social Workers Be Aware:New Claim Change Comingoutlining changeshere.This change will impact reimbursement for clinical social workers who will need to provide new Medicare numbers on their claim forms in order to avoid payment denials.

Monthly Networking Meetings

Please register to let us know you'll join us at one of our networking meetings!

FlagstaffNetworking: First Wednesday of each Month: Please join us for an hour of networking and talking about upcoming events. We are planning to meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 PM -- location TBA!

PrescottNetworking: Second Wednesday of each Month (1 CEU): Networking Meeting with Prescott and surrounding area social workers. We will note feature a meeting in October but will be back in November -- location TBA!

Phoenix Networking: Third Thursday of each Month (1 CEU): Join NASWAZ Branch 1 for a networking and an educational meeting at Coco's Bakery Restaurant in Phoenix 1 CEU offered at most events with events planned for 2017. Register to let us know you'll attend and we'll save you a seat!

Sierra VistaNetworking: Fourth Thursday of each Month (1 CEU): Sierra Vista Network Brown Bag Lunch Meetings occur the fourth Thursday of each Month. The Official NASW Training on the 2017 Revisions to theCode of Ethics

Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm ET

Our next training will take place on Wednesday October 25, 2017 from 2-4p EST. The training is free and open to everyone. If participants wish to receive CEs for that training there will be a cost of $25/members and $40/non-members.


An Hour with Private Practice: Questions & Answers
 
SEPT - DECEMBER 2017 SCHEDULE NOW POSTED

An Hour With Private Practice: Questions & Answers (HOPP) is a free question and answer session for NASW members which is held every third Wednesday of the month from January through November 2017.
The monthly call-in sessions focus on a specific private practice subject. There is no registration and members can join in the discussion, ask questions, and make comments. These sessions provide members with important clinical social work updates impacting the delivery of mental health services.
HOPP is held every third Wednesday of the month from noon until 1:00 pm ET. No session is held in December due to the holidays.

Installment Payments Now Available for NASW Renewals!

You now may pay your NASW membership renewal in two or three installments by your membership renewal date. Installment payments may be made by mail to PO Box 79949, Baltimore, MD 21279-0949 or by phone to NASW Member Services at 800-742-4089 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET Monday-Friday. The installment option is not available online at this time. A $25 processing fee will be assessed for refunds of incomplete installment payments. Public Policy Committee Updates

The NASWAZ Public Policy Committee is in the planning stages for the "Social Work Day at the Legislature" series of events this Spring (January and February). Once finalized, we hope to offer an experience catered to students and professionals that will accommodate your schedule and engage you in the advocacy process. Stay tuned for updates!
NASWAZ Updates

The Chapter encourages Arizonans to vote in upcoming local and mid-term elections. We're planning a series of events in the Winter, including updates on policy priorities. Watch for a survey (will be distributed at the Conference) to help our Public Policy Committee update our priorities for 2018.

BBHE Relocation in December

The Board of Behavioral Health Examiners' administrative office and meeting space will relocate from the Central/Osborn location to 1740 West Adams St, Phoenix, AZ 85007 during the week of December 18th. Please watch http://www.azbbhe.us for updates as they are made available.

Arizona LTC Task Force Monthly Social Work Conference Call

Attention social workers and social service staff that work in long term care: You are invited to participate in a long term care social work task force monthly conference call on the2nd Thursday every month at12:30 PM. The Arizona Long Term Care Social Work Task Force is offering aFREEmonthly conference call for all social workers and social service staff. Relevant and challenging issues are discussed in an interactive, roundtable-style forum with other social work peers. The conference call is held the second Thursday of every month and is facilitated by a member of the Social Work Task Force. Participants can ask questions, present cases or just listen in on the discussion. This is a wonderful learning and networking opportunity to ask those tough questions about issues in the nursing home as well as share ideas and resources with each other.

Free Ethics Consultations FOR NASW MEMBERS
 
The Office of Ethics and Professional Review (OEPR) provides individual ethics consultations as a benefit of NASW membership. Ethic consultations are a resource for members who encounter ethical dilemmas and/or have ethics related questions. Consultation services are intended to guide members through the applicable standards in the Code along with other pertinent considerations and resources that address their concerns and allows them to make reasoned ethical decisions. While we can discuss ethical issues, we cannot provide definitive answers for a particular situation or make decisions for members.
 
Ethics consultation telephone calls are answered on a first come first served basis and are not pre-scheduled. If you call during consultation hours and receive a voice-mail response, we request your patience as we complete earlier member calls, Please leave a brief message clearly stating your name and contact number and we will return your call. Due to the high call volume, we ask that you allow 24 hours for a return call.
