Ethics Committee

It is the responsibility of the Committee on Inquiry to ensure that Social Work Ethics are maintained. The Chapter Committee on Inquiry reviews and resolves complaints of ethical violations or unfair practices using a peer review process and with collaborative support provided by the National COI. The goal of the process is to correct and improve social work practice as needed.

This process ensures that the Social Work profession maintains the highest standards possible and relies on dedicated NASW members to volunteer as Panel members. There are various roles the Panel members assume in Hearings and in the Mediation process. We provide training for these roles, and discussions around ethical issues are very thought-provoking.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Hearing Panel or if you have questions related to the professional review process, please contact the Ethics Chair.
