Board Description: The board of directors has 20 members with representation from each of the 4 geographic branches. Branch Representatives and officers are elected and serve 2 year terms; Student Representatives serve 1 year terms; President serves 1 year as President-Elect and 2 years as President.

 

Board of Directors 2018 - 2019

OFFICERS 

President: Dori DiPietro, LCSW, ACSW

Dori DiPietro LCSW, ACSW, is Director of the Social Work Program at Mesa Community College and a proud member of NASW for 23 years, NASW AZ board member for the past six years.  With over thirty years of experience as a social worker she served as a Field Instructor and Faculty Associate to the ASU School of Social Work for both the BSW and the MSW program, working predominantly in child welfare and school social work.  Dori also has a thriving psychotherapy and consulting practice specializing in MBCT, MBSR and holistic well-being.  She is a long-time practitioner and teacher of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness; teaching and serving those who teach, serve and heal others is her area of passion and expertise.

First Vice President: Jessica Begay, MSW

Second Vice President of Budget & Finance: Mike Tokunaga, MSW, LMSW

Mike Tokunaga has been a member of NASW since 2001. Mike attended the University of Hawaii. The focus of Mike's work is gerontology.

Secretary: Ruby Rideout

Ruby Rideout's career as a social workers spans 30 years (19 as MSW). She earned her MSW in 1999 from Western Michigan University. The focus of Ruby's work is Program Development/Innovation and Professional Leadership.

BRANCH 1 REPRESENTATIVES

Robin Bonifas, PhD, MSW, LICSW

Robin has been a social worker since 1988, when she earned her BSW degree. Robin's areas of practice interest include health care and gerontology; she  was a social worker in long-term care for many years and currently works in social work education. Robin earned her BSW, MSW, and PhD degrees from the University of Washington in Seattle.

Bahney Dedolph

Bahney has been a social worker working in a wide variety of settings in multiple states since 1974.  She is currently the Deputy Director at the Arizona Council of Human Service Providers working on policy issues related to behavioral health and child welfare. 

JoAnn Del-Colle, MSW, LCSW

JoAnn Del-Colle MSW, LCSW currently serves an an adjunct faculty member in the Social Work Program at Mesa Community. In addition to managing the city of Phoenix Homeless Programs Unit, JoAnn's focus during her 26 year social work career has included direct practice, management and policy work on behalf of victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence as well as child abuse.  JoAnn received her B.A. in Family Studies and her MSW from ASU and served for an adjunct faculty member in the ASU Graduate School of Social Work for seven years. 

Meka Green, LCSW

Bianca Harper, DCSW, LCSW

Bianca Harper is a clinical associate professor at the USC Suzanne Dworak Peck School of Social Work and has been a social worker for fourteen years. She received her Doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania and her Masters of Social Work at Arizona State University. She is a licensed clinical social worker and her practice and research interests include child maltreatment, traumatic stress, trauma informed treatment, and pedagogy.

April Reed, MSW

April Reed has been a social worker since 2003.  She workers with individuals with disabilities and their families to support independence, and helps educate that community to become engaged advocates.
She received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Arizona State University in 2005.

Karen Voyer Caravona

 

BRANCH 2 REPRESENTATIVES

Mary Ellen Brown, PhD, MSW, MPA, LCSW

Mary Ellen Brown, PhD, LCSW, has been a social worker for fifteen years. Dr. Brown's research and practice areas include macro social work, equitable community development, youth and community empowerment, and nonprofit administration. Dr. Brown received her MSW from the University of South Carolina, and her PhD in Social Work from Louisiana State University. She is an assistant professor in the School of Social Work at Arizona State University.

Katie Cotter Stalker, PhD, MSW

Katie Cotter Stalker earned her M.S.W. in 2011 from the University at Buffalo School of Social Work and earned her Ph.D. in 2015 from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the ASU School of Social on the Tucson campus. Her research focuses on youth violence and community-centered prevention strategies.

Erin Lowry, LCSW

Erin Lowry graduated from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2006 and has been in practice ever since. Erin's current areas of interest are: sexual health, trauma and the integration of law and social work. Erin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice and  also works for the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law managing a social work component within their clinical legal education program. At times, Erin serves as a Field Liaison and/or Faculty Associate with Arizona State University.

Katie Mommaerts, LCSW

Melissa Rhodes, LCSW

BRANCH 4 REPRESENTATIVES

Sally Mead

Sally Mead has been a practicing social worker for 30 years and specializes in trauma therapy and addictions treatment. Sally earned her MSW at University of Houston and is currently completing a DSW at Walden University.

Val Piacitelli

Valerie Piacitelli has worked in the field of Social Work since 2001. Valerie’s areas of practice include medical social, legal and criminal justice social work, and she remains connected to the field of education as an Field Advisor and instructor. Valerie’s areas of influence include substance abuse, trauma and eating disorders.  She utilizes the many benefits of expressive therapies and currently functions as the Clinical Director at SequelCare of Arizona specializing in SMI, Dual Diagnosis, and Sexually Maladaptive Behavioral clients.

Carlos Ramos - MSW Student Representative  

 

Ruth Jolly - BSW Student Representative

Ruth Jolly is in her senior year studying social work at ASU after studying at Mesa Community College. Ruth is interested in becoming an LCSW and eventually working in private practice. Ruth's interests are macro social work and hospital social work.
